Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, has directed the Council Engineer to inspect the manholes on Oriwu Road close to Ojogbe Junction which has turned to a death trap for necessary action towards its repairs.
The directive was issued following the news publication by THE IMPACT in respect of a concern raise by a resident over manholes at Ojogbe and another one close to the Ikorodu Division Police Headquarters along Igbogbo Road in Ikorodu.
Unfortunately, in the statement issued by the media team of the Council Chairman on the official Facebook handle of the council, the only manhole inspected for what was termed ‘palliative measures’ was that of the Ojogbe Junction.
The statement reads:
“On the directives of the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, the Council Engineer, Engr. Oladapo Oluseyi has inspected the site of the manhole on a major road in Ikorodu, following urgent calls for its repair.
“This inspection is a crucial step towards preparing palliative measures to fix the manhole, which poses a significant threat to commuters’ safety.
“This affirms the Chairman’s commitment to addressing infrastructural concerns and ensuring public safety.”
